Soccer fan gets full-chest tattoo of murdered player’s jersey

Felipe Alvarez, 25, has made his own body the site of a permanent tribute to tragic death of the young star, by tattooing Escobar’s jersey straight onto his chest

The soccer player was murdered in 1994 an accidental goal against his own team knocked the country out of the World Cup.

Humberto Castro Munoz, bodyguard to a drug cartel member who had supposedly put money on the match’s outcome, confessed to murdering Escobar and served 11 years in prison.

Escobar is fondly remembered by Colombians and especially by fans of Atletico Nacional.

Alvarez appeared at Sunday’s Fan Day at Atanacio Girardot Stadium in Medellin in his new green striped tribute to Atletico Nacional and Escobar.
