Colombia’s Caribbean city of Santa Marta has “enormous potential” to become a top tourism destination, the director of the port of Miami told local newspaper El Informador.
“Santa Marta has the capacity to generate tourism and exploit this the way it deserves, all that’s needed is that an economic analysis is made, and through this it can obtain exceptional results in capital investment,” said Miami port director Juan Kuryla.
The U.S. businessmen praised the Santa Marta Port Society for its work to increase tourism and foreign investment, the paper said.
Kuryla was invited to Santa Marta to receive the key to the city, which was handed to him by mayor Juan Pablo Diaz-Granados Pinedo.
Santa Marta hopes to receive U.S. investment to improve the Colombian port.
