Eleven oil workers who were kidnappped by the ELN last week have been released in northeast Colombia, the Red Cross announced Tuesday.
According to the aid agency, rebels delivered the hostages to representatives of the Red Cross, the church and the Ombudsman’s Office early Tuesday morning in the department of Cauca.
“We carried out this operation after being asked directly by the armed groups and at the request of the families,” Michael Kramer of the Red Cross said in a press release.
The oil workers were kidnapped on Wednesday.
