Rainy season kills twelve so far

Colombia’s rainy season killed twelve people and affected some 20,000 others since its beginning at the end of September.

According to the country’s branch of the Red Cross, the situation is most serious in the Cauca department. The aid organization sent food to the town of Guapi where a large number of people lost their crops and houses.

Other departments with increased problems because of excessive rainfall are Huila, Choco, Tolima, Cordoba, Santander and Norte de Santander.

The second rainy season of the year usually lasts until mid-December and is suspected to intensify in the western and northern coastal regions of the country.
