Police go on offensive against drug lord

Colombian authorities are running an operation to arrest 15 key members of drug lord Daniel Barrera, alias “El Loco Barrera’s”, narco-trafficking organization, W Radio reports on Wednesday.

According to reports, special police investigators from Dijin and Colombia’s prosecutor general’s office have successfully arrested nine of the wanted individuals, including several of Barrera’s family members.

W Radio also reports that one of the arrested individuals was in charge of maintaining ties to a drug-running network that was dismantled in Argentina.

Authorities report that the offensive against the El Loco Barrera organization is taking place across five Colombian departments.

In April, police seized 152 properties and other possessions with a combined value over $32 million Barrera and another drug dealer.

Barrera is one of Colombia’s most wanted drug dealers.
