Police arrest 8 ‘FARC informants’ in northeast Colombia

Police in the northeast of Colombia said Friday they have arrested eight FARC informants.

According to the police, the five men and three women were in charge of gathering intelligence for the FARC’s 38th, 45th and 56th front.

Among the suspected FARC collaborators are a local community leader, an employee of a local radio station and a number of local businessmen.

The Arauca department, bordering Venezuela, is one of Colombia’s departments with most guerrilla activity. Earlier this week, 11 oil workers were kidnapped by alleged rebels of the ELN.
