Patricia Bermudez promotes her new single

Colombian actress-turned-singer, Patricia Bermudez, or ‘La Bermudez’ as she wishes to be called, has released the brand new single from her second album, titled ‘Satyagraha’ – which is due to go on sale in January of 2010.

At 28 years old and after a 16 year career starring in various works by musical director Maria Isabel Murillo, Bermudez can now justifiably credit herself as a professional singer as well as a successful actress.

Bermudez was born in England to Colombian parents and forged her muscial, chart-topping career in Colombia. She already has a debut album on the market, which is an eclectic mix of traditional Colombian rhythm ‘bullerengue’, bossa nova and a hint of jazz.

“[The first album] was a result of six or seven years work. We have performed in New York and Bogota … in museums, libraries, parks and a couple of hamburger joints,” Bermudez was quoted saying by newspaper El Tiempo.

Her new album contrasts previous work. The singer, who writes the lyrics to all her songs, claimed the album to be “experimental pop. It combines many electronic rythmns and sounds … It is very chic.”

Bermudez stated that the new album is due to be released in the new year but she admitted that she still had doubts about the title, currently ‘Satyagraha’.

The singer maintained that for now, she intends to continue the finishing developments for the album, which will be recorded through music empire Sony and she harbors a dream of being able to hear her music played everywhere.
