Players of Colombian soccer club Once Caldas went on strike this Monday after the club failed to pay their salaries for several months.
The Manizales side is two and half months behind on its payments, which for the players crossed an unacceptable line.
“We decided to do this because the situation is very complicated for us, said team captain Alexis Henriquez.
“The majority has no money to eat, services were cut and our children are being sent back from school. So we decided to do this until they pay the delayed salaries.
“The directors told us that the situation is very complicated, that there is no money. However, we won’t wait any longer,” the player concluded.
Once Caldas are currently in 11th place in the Colombian Liga Postobon with three wins in six matches.
