Nule brother’s death threat against prison director caught on tape

One of three imprisoned Nule group construction tycoons was secretly recorded making death threats against Colombia’s national prison director.

In a fit of rage following the removal of special privileges and luxury items, Miguel Nule was caught on tape by newscast Noticias Uno saying, “We are going to have to kill this son of a b***h general.”

A relative of Miguel Nule, one of the two brothers sentenced to seven years in jail alongside their cousin last December for embezzling millions of dollars awarded to their company for public works contracts in Bogota, is heard trying to calm the ex-businessman down.

General Gustavo Ricuarte, director of Colombia’s National Penitentiary and Prisons Institute (INPEC), told RCN he had never met any of the Nule group and had nothing against them. The Interior Ministry has ordered an investigation to determine if any extra security measures are necessary to protect Ricuarte.

Last month the jailed construction tycoons claimed to have gone on hunger strike, because of fears of being poisoned, following the removal of their private cook.

The cousins, who until recently were held in a special cottage within the prison facility, were stripped of all privileges after investigators found out they possessed cell phones, Ipods and large sums of money.

The businessmen were given a $2.5 million fine as part of last December’s sentence, but were not ordered to return the money they stole.
