Nine killed in FARC-ELN combat

The governor of Colombia’s eastern Arauca department, Luis Eduardo Ataya, reported Wednesday that nine people were killed during an armed confrontation between guerrilla groups the FARC and the ELN.

General Rafael Neira confirmed that “confrontations between the two terrorist factions left nine dead.” According to Neira, the leader of the FARC’s 10th Front, German Briceño, alias “Grannobles” is behind the attacks.

In January Grannobles was filmed declaring “war to the death” on ELN guerrillas

It is not known if the dead, who were transported to two nearby hospitals, were ELN and FARC guerrillas, or civilians caught in the crossfire.
