‘Mono Jojoy’ remains to be returned to family

Over a month after the bombing raid that killed the FARC’s military leader Jorge Briceño Suarez, alias “Mono Jojoy,” his remains will be returned to his family for burial, reports El Tiempo.

The prosecutor general has agreed to return Mono Jojoy’s body to his family on the condition that the remains are interred in a cemetery in Bogota and the government is given the exact location of the grave. The family is not allowed to cremate the body.

The bodies of other FARC members who died in the attack have also been returned to their families.

The head of the FARC’s Eastern Bloc and member of its Secretariat was killed in a massive air strike as part of the military’s Operation Sodom in the central Colombian Meta department, 120 miles south of Bogota.
