Miss World is set to visit Colombia for the first time in 20 years, as part of a charity tour through the country alongside Colombia’s own Mr. World, reported national media Sunday.

The 2013 winner, Filipino-America Megan Young, will arrive on March 14 and join the 2012 Mr. World, Colombia’s Francisco Escobar, on a charity tour through the country, according to the El Colombiano newspaper.

The tour is set to kick off in Bogota, where Young and several national leaders will meet to discuss female leadership.

The duo will then be accompanied by the First Lady of the Miss World organization, Julia Morley, also the commissioner of Variety International Children’s Fund —  a United Kingdom-based organization supported by more than 100 charities worldwide.

Next on the agenda is a stop in the western city of Cali, Colombia’s third largest, where Young and Escobar will attend the inauguration of Escobar’s Path of Champions foundation at the College Royal Ensign. Escobar, a renowned model and former professional pole vaulter, started the foundation with the mission of distributing shoes and training support to underprivileged Colombian athletes.

The beauty queen will then return to the country’s capital to visit Mercy Hospital, where she will be assisting in the pediatric oncology division.

Young was invited by the Heal Foundation, which started a campaign collecting plastic caps to support Colombian children with cancer.

The beauty queen ends the charity tour attending a parade at the Metropolitan Club in Bogota.
