Microsoft CEO visits Colombia

Fifteen years since his last visit, Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer has come to Colombia to hold talks with over 100 Colombian business people and economists, as well as the country’s President Alvaro Uribe.

Ballmer is on Monday chairing a conference named “The Vision of the Future,” in which he will explain to guests his company’s role in so called “cloud computing” – whereby software is provided to computers on-demand, via the internet.

The CEO will suggest ways in which Microsoft may collaborate with Colombian businesses, as well as presenting guests with the company’s new line of products and online software.

Ballmer will also hold more intimate talks with young software designers, in search of innovative ideas being developed in Colombia.

The conference will end with a meeting between Ballmer and the Colombian president, where they will discuss maintaining the software giant’s place in the Colombian computer market.
