Mayor’s daughter kidnapping a crime against humanity: Interior minister

Colombia’s interior minister said Thursday the kidnapping of the daughter of a mayor in the northeast of Colombia is a “crime against humanity” and offered the full support of the government to find the child, Colombian media reported.

“How are they going to kidnap a 10-year-old girl? To use a minor for criminal purposes is a crime against humanity,” said Minister German Vargas Lleras.

“We are advancing all the operation in the zones that are vital to secure her release,” the minister added.

According to reports, the commander of the Army in the northeast Arauca department suspected that the left-wing guerrilla group FARC abducted the daughter of Jorge Muñoz, the mayor of Fortul.

Colombia‘s Defense Minister Juan Carlos Pinzon has offered a reward of $52,100 (COP100 million) for any information leading to the rescue of the girl.
