Man holds family hostage in southern Bogota

At 6.09 am Tuesday an armed man had been holding his wife and three sons hostage in his house in the south of the Colombian capital of Bogota since 8 pm Monday. His sons are 12, 11 and 2.

Leon Ramiro Rojas, 39, a construction worker who recently lost his job has reportedly made no demands so far. Colombian radio station Radio Santafe reports that the man is suffering mental health problems and has registered abnormal behaviour for the last two weeks.

According to the newspaper El Espectador, it was his mother-in-law who alerted the capital’s authorities to the hostage taking.
