Interpol currently have outstanding warrants for the arrests of 686 Colombians around the world, with emerging gang members and FARC guerillas the main targets, according to El Espectador.
The U.S. is seeking the capture and extradition of 38 Colombians, while Peru and Spain are seeking 20 and seven respectively, according to Interpol Colombia head, Colonel Alvaro Pico.
“Drug trafficking and crimes committed by the FARC are the main charges for which Colombians are being sought abroad,” Pico said.
The Colombian Interpol office was transferred to the national police from the security agency DAS over a month ago, following investigations into the agency’s alleged illegal surveillance operations.
Since taking the reins at Interpol, the police have made nine arrests.
