A mass seizure of contraband belonging drug trafficker “Megateo” and his gang was carried out by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Colombia police Monday.
The contraband was found in a parked car in a lot in the city of Cucuta, located in the North Santander department on the border of Venezuela. The vehicle carrying the contraband was allegedly detected by both DEA and Colombian police after months of tracking, according to Caracol Radio.
The discovered gang arsenal allegedly included more than 100 grenades and nearly 5,000 rifle cartridges among other weaponry.
Victor Ramon Navarro, alias Megateo, is known in the north of the country as “one of the most feared and belligerant men” in the north of Colombia. The former left wing rebel turned drug trafficker has a $1 million bounty on his head. His gang’s ties extend to both the powerful drug syndicate the “Urabeños” and rebel guerrilla groups FARC and ELN.
