Colombia court rejects multi-million dollar lawsuit against govt

Colombia’s highest administrative court has rejected a multi-million lawsuit against the state for the alleged expropriation of 744 sq mi of land.

Siblings Enrique, Luz Elena and Gloria Durango Sanin, and Enrique Durango Valero argued before Colombia’s State Council that the Colombian Institute for Agricultural Reform (INCORA) was responsible for the expropriation of their grandfather’s land in the northwestern province of Antioquia.

The group consequently demanded $385 million worth of compensation from the Colombian government.

The Minister of Interior Fernando Carrillo Florez referred to the win as, “the biggest win in history”.
