Colombia’s presidential aid agency Accion Social announced Thursday that it will give compensation of up to COP20 million ($10,000), equivalent to 40 times the monthly legal minimum wage, to the victims of Wednesday’s car bomb attack in the Pacific cost city of Buenaventura, reports El Espectador.
Nine people were killed and 59 injured in the blast. The dead will be returned to their home regions for burial after their families have visited the morgue to identify the bodies, says national Radio Caracol.
President Alvaro Uribe’s visit to Buenaventura, which was planned for Thursday, has been postponed until Friday, reports Spanish website ABC. Minister of Defense Gabriel Silva along with the highest military authorities will also be present to support him in presiding over an extraordinary security council that will take charge of the situation of the city.
