Farjado undergoes successful hip surgery

Colombian Green Party vice presidential candidate Sergio Farjado is recovering in a Medellin hospital following successful surgery on his hip.

Dr Julio Garcia of the Rosario clinic in Medellin said that everything had gone according to plan during the operation, and the results were “excellent.”

The Green Party candidate fractured his hip on Saturday after falling from his bicycle in the Antioquian capital.

Farjado vowed to continue campaigning from his hospital bed, using skype and videoconferencing for interviews, as well as taking advantage of social networking sites and Youtube.

Presidential candidate Antanas Mockus thanked the people who have supported Farjado throughout his ordeal.
