The FARC issued a press release accusing Colombian President Alvaro Uribe of measuring his government’s success in “liters of blood.”
The statement, published on the Anncol website, highlights the 2008 Soacha false positives – when 11 men were dressed up to look like guerillas and killed by the Colombian Army – as an example.
“During the administration of narco-paramilitary President Alvaro Uribe, false positives have reached the top rung of human perfidy,” the statement reads.
According to the FARC, the false positives case was a “direct result of an official policy of state terrorism” and that those responsible “must appear in court accompanied by their boss, President Uribe.”
“The armed forces officers were turned into a killing machine under the Uribe government. These war crimes and crimes against humanity were headed by senior officials of the Colombian state,” the statement said.
