‘FARC’ bombs 2 energy towers in north Antioquia

The FARC bombing of two energy towers Tuesday left three municipalities and a village in the north of Antioquia department without electricity for two hours, Colombian media reported Wednesday.

The explosion, allegedly by the FARC’s 36th Front, happened at 8PM resulting in the loss of power to the municipalities of Ituango, San Andres, Peque and the village of El Valle de Toledo.

By 11PM EPM technicians were able to connect a substitute circuit and reestablish the supply of energy to almost all affected areas.

As a result of the attack, police have stepped up surveillance in the urban areas of these towns.
