Fake priest caught extorting funds for Haiti

A conman pretending to be a priest was arrested by police in Bogota on Thursday for falsely collecting money for Haiti.

Radio Santa Fe reported that the man asked parishioners from the local San Diego church to donate up to COP200,000 for the victims of the earthquake on the Caribbbean island last week.

Authorities say the suspect was able to collect close to five million pesos before his arrest.
