‘ELN’ attack injures 1 civilian, destroys 10 houses and hospital

The ELN have attacked the municipality of Sucre, in southern Cauca, in a siege lasting a whole day that left one civilian injured and destroyed ten houses as well as causing damage to a hospital, Caracol Radio reported.

The guerrillas began their attack in the early hours of Saturday morning, launching grenades and explosives as terrified residents remained hidden in their houses.

General Orlando Pineda, the local police commander, said that his men had defended the area in fighting that continued into the night.

One civilian was injured, along with ten houses destroyed, while the Emergency Room and laboratories of the local hospital were also damaged.
