Colombia police arrest 2 FARC ringleaders

Colombian Police arrest one commander of the FARC’s 22nd front and one sub commander of the rebels’ 36th front.

Gemner Lara Muñoz alias “Lucio 40” alleged head of the FARC’s 22nd Front was arrested in the outskirts of Villavicencio, the capital of Meta department. Lara Muñoz was detained by officers of the Judicial Police (DIJIN). He is accused of homicide and rebellion by the Prosecutor General’s Office, according to Semana.

Alberto Montoya Montoya alias “Samper” was arrested by police in Cucuta, the capital of Norte de Santander department. He was one of the sub commanders of the FARC’s 36th Front which operated in the east of the department of Antioquia.

According to investigations, Montoya entered the FARC at the age of 15 and was a key figure in coordinating attacks on the civilian population. A judge issued an arrest for warrant against him for the crimes of terrorism, homicide, and the fabrication of arms and munitions, reported RCN Radio.

Both men were attending medical consultations immediately prior to their arrests.
