Venezuela’s ambassador to the OAS claims to have intelligence showing that leaders of guerrilla group the FARC are within Colombian territory.
Armed with exactly the same maps, photos and videos used by Colombia to accuse Venezuela of harboring terrorists, ambassador Roy Chaderton went before the Organization of American States a week and a half after Colombia.
“What Colombia did was move the alleged camps 100 miles east so that they fall into Venezuelan territory. We have evidence that the FARC and ELN have been in Colombia for more than 45 years and that the Colombian government is unwilling to capture these narco-terrorists.”
Venezuela presented an map identical to the one Colombia showed on July 23, but with the alleged FARC camps on Colombian territory.
The socialist state also showed the same photos as Colombia did, but claimed they were taken on a beach near Santa Marta and in the jungles of the Colombian Santander and Norte de Santander departments. According to Chaderton, the photos were taken in FARC camps inside Colombia, but used to discredit Venezuela and create conditions for a U.S. attack on the oil-rich nation.
