No change to Colombia tourism visa process: DAS

Visa services for foreign nationals will continue as usual, despite the dismantling of Colombia’s intelligence and migration agency DAS, an official from the organization confirmed.

Harold Vega, an official from the intelligence agency’s offices in Bogota, told Colombia Reports that changes would be made gradually and that the process would remain unchanged for the foreseeable future.

“For the time being the process will remain the same and we do not currently have any information as to when this will change,” Vega confirmed.

“There is an ongoing process of transition and if any changes to services are introduced, they will be published on the DAS website which is still in use,” the immigration officer added.

This was echoed in a statement on the DAS website published on November 1, 2011.

“After signing the decree that suppresses the DAS, a transition process has begun which will ensure normality in the provision of services to citizens,” the statement said.

Officials have also confirmed that immigration and visa services would be unaffected by the decision. The opening hours, locations and staff of all DAS visa offices will remain the same.
