A stash of 150 landmines and five other explosive devices allegedly belonging to Colombia’s second largest rebel group, ELN, were discovered on Friday by the military near the Venezuela border.

The explosives were found in a 55-gallon garbage can near the municipality of Tame, Arauca. The military claims they belong to the Domingo Lain Saenz front of the ELN.

A tip from locals led authorities to the location of the landmines.

The military believes that the ELN rebels wanted to install the bombs on rural roads that are patrolled by law enforcement.

Military experts carefully destroyed the bombs and their commander, General Carlos Rubiano Fonseca, said that the offensive against the ELN front will escalate in order to obtain the surrender, capture or death of the front leader, alias “Tuerto Lucho.”
