Colombia debuts candidate for Miss World 2012

The organization for Miss World Colombia officially debuted their candidate to represent Colombia at the 62nd annual Miss World beauty pageant Wednesday, which will be held this August in Ordos, China.

Miss Bogota 2011 Barbara Turbay was selected by a committee of judges based on her participation in a number of contests which showcased her intelligence, poise and impecable physique.

“Now begins some very hard work because I really want to take that first world title for the country and give that privilege to Colombians,” said Turbay in an interview with Terra News. “I have to work on everything, because as a rule, everything must be good in all respects.”

The 20-year-old Bogota native is 5’11” and measures 35-24-36. She speaks fluent English and was pursuing a degree in Performing Arts and Social Communications in the United States before interrupting her studies to come to her home country to pursue the crown.
