Colombian army claims arrest of FARC infiltrator

Colombian authorities claim to have arrested one of the FARC’s urban
coordinators, who was in charge of infiltrating state bodies in the
south east of the country.

According to officials, ‘La Reina’ (the Queen) was arrested on Sunday in Bogota and is part of the guerrillas’ Colombian Clandestine Communist Party.

The Colombian army won’t reveal the name of the suspect, but says she was arrested “in a crowded area in the capital of the Republic” after months of investigations.

“She started in the FARC as a common guerrilla and later became member of the Colombian Clandestine Communist Party to infiltrate state organisms on different levels, mostly in the Guaviare department,” an army document said.

According to the authorities, La Reina took part in several committees and workshops organized by local and departmental governments to gather information about “possibly profitable targets” for extortion.

‘The Queen’ was arrested on charges of terrorism, rebellion, kidnapping and homicide.
