Colombia vs Mexico soccer preview

Colombia face Mexico in the first match of Jose Pekerman’s reign as Colombian national coach Wednesday.

Kicking off at 8pm in Miami’s Sunlife Stadium, Florida’s Colombian and Mexican ex-pat communities will be vying to make their teams feel at home.

The two teams last met in a friendly in September 2010, with home team Mexico coming away 1-0 victors.

History is also on the side of the Mexicans, who have won 12 of the 27 games between the two teams, while Colombia have won just 6.

But this statistic belies the pattern of the last decade, during which time Colombia have won four of their six games and Mexcio have won just once.

The match will see one of the world’s most expensive goalscorers Radamel Falcao, of Atletico Madrid, feature against Manchester United’s up-and-coming hit man Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez. Whichever one has a better game may well determine the outcome of the match.
