Colombia starts website to promote foreign investment

The Colombian government created a new website to draw foreign investors to the country.

The Joomla-based website, investincolombia.com.co, is set up by Proexport, a government agency that seeks to increase foreign investment in the Colombia.

One of the pilars of the Uribe administration’s economic policy is to fund the development and progress of the country through investor confidence and attracting foreign investors to pump their dollars and euros into the Colombian economy.

Proexport held surveys to find out what the questions and needs of potential foreign investors are and says to fulfill the demand for information through the web page.

Foreign investors pumped some US$10 billion into the Colombian economy last year. Expectations for this year are significantly lower, because of the global financial crisis.
