Colombia will host the sixth edition of an important hotel and tourism conference.

The South American Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference (SAHIC) brings together leaders in the industry to discuss “hotels, resorts, real estate projects and overall leisure and tourism development projects in South America.”

The aim is to give information about where the industry is today and where it is heading, as well as providing a space for networking in which new projects can be exhibited and analyzed.

“There’s no doubt that this is one of the most highly anticipated conferences,” declared SAHIC President, Arturo Garcia Rosa, on Wednesday. “Those involved have vast experience in the industry, a vision for new development projects, the ability to analyze the current situation and the challenges that the region presents.”

Over 500 specialists will be taking part in the conference, which will be held on the 23rd and 24th of September in the JW Marriott hotel in Bogota.

The keynote speaker will be Thorsten Kirschke, president of the Americas Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. The company hopes to have 1500 hotels in South America by 2015.

This will be the second time the SAHIC comes to Colombia; it was held in Cartagena in 2010.

Between January and April 685,000 tourists visited Colombia, up 4.6% for the same period in 2012.
