‘Colombia Day’ begins at the NYSE

The top executives of 18 leading Colombian companies commence “Colombia Day” at the New York Stock Exchange with the honor of ringing the bell to open the markets, Caracol reports Wednesday.

The first ‘Colombia Day,’ which is to become an annual event, provides an opportunity for Colombian businessmen to present their business plans and attract foreign investment into the domestic market.

Among the companies represented were Ecopetrol, Suramericana, Exito and Bancolombia, as well as the Colombian stock exchange.

One of the sponsors of ‘Colombia Day’ is Euronext, the international extension of the New York Stock Exchange, which currently holds cash equities in Ecopetrol and Bancolombia.
