Colombia arrests Brit on pedophilia charges

Colombian authorities have arrested a British citizen who is accused of having sex with minors and possession of child porn.

According to Felipe Muñoz, director of Colombia’s immigration and intelligence agency DAS, the Englishman was arrested in the coastal city of Cartagena two and a half weeks after arriving in Colombia.

The suspect, Paul Anthony Brailsford, is accused of paying minors in the cities of Barranquilla, Cartagena and Santa Marta for sex.

The alleged pedophile paid girls COP30,000 ($16) for sex, Muñoz said Tuesday at a press conference in Bogota. The DAS is also investigating the parents of some of the Brit’s victims for allegedly offering their daughters, aged as young as 6 years old, for money.

According to television network Caracol, Brailsford faces 50 charges of sexual abuse and the possession of child porn.
