Colombia, Venezuela to meet at Ibero-American Summit

Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Anglea Holguin will meet on Friday with her Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro at the Ibero-American Summit in Mar del Plata, Argentina, Venezuelan newspaper AVN reports.

The foreign ministers will assess the progress in re-establishing relations between the two countries since August, after ties were cut during the government of Alvaro Uribe.

The heads of states will also meet to discuss the candidates for the secretary general of the Organization of South American Nations (UNASUR).

Colombia will propose former Foreign Minister Maria Emma Mejia to succeed the deceased Nestor Kirchner as secretary general of UNASUR.
