Colombia’s capital hosts digital media summit

Colombia’s capital city Bogota on Tuesday welcomed more than 80 speakers from 14 countries who will offer over 100 conferences and workshops on a range of digital media.

Between Tuesday and Thursday in Bogota’s ‘T Zona’ this week, investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, developers, and academics, from several continents will be giving and attending workshops focusing on transmedia, animation, video games, software, business, music, and mobile devices at Colombia’s third Great Digital Content Summit.

“Colombia 3.0,” as the summit has been named, hopes to provide guests and speakers an opportunity to “accelerate industry initiatives, participate in workshops and conferences, exchange experiences and of course, network [withe each other],” according to the event’s website.

Some of the highlighted features will be the welcoming speech by Jeff Gomez, CEO of Starlight Runner Entertainment, the company that produced Avatar and Pirates of the Carribean, personal workshops on animation with Avner Geller, a visual development artist at Dreamworks, and musical performances by Colombian natives, Toto La Momposina, Crew Peligrosos, Cesar Lopez and DaniBoom.

The 3rd digital content summit of its kind is an initiative of Colombia’s Ministry of Information Technology and Communications.
