A bomb exploded close to a police post in an up-scale neighborhood in Colombia’s capital Bogota, injuring at least two policemen on Friday.

The explosion took place in Lourdes Park, a small park in the eastern neighborhood of Chapinero.

At least one police sergeant and one patrolman were injured in the blast, local Police said. The Bogota Health Secretary reported that one more person was taken to hospital and another three were treated on the scene before being sent home.

According to neighbors, the bomb went off at 4:45PM and destroyed most windows of nearby apartment buildings.

The explosive device was detonated five blocks away from the 2012 high-profile explosives attack in Colombia’s capital in which a former minister was injured and two of his bodyguards were killed.

Police made no statements in regards to possible suspects or their possible motive for the attack.
