Bogota explosion leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

Colombian authorities report that an explosion in a industrial zone in the Colombian capital city Bogota on Thursday left one dead and three injured.

A 38-year-old woman was killed, a man received burns to 90% of his body and two others received various lesions in the explosion, which is believed to have been caused by a build up of gases in a metallurgy factory in the suburb of Ricaurte.

Those injured were rushed to hospital. Buildings surrounding the metallurgy business were damaged by the explosion.

Firefighters and emergency services are on the scene to assess the situation.
