‘Biblioburro’ donkey library comes to Bogota to teach children

On the backs of his two donkeys, Alfa and Beto, Luis Soriano will bring his traveling ‘Biblioburro’ library to the Park of the 93 in Bogota on Sunday at 11:30 AM.

Soriano’s 120 book library has traveled for 12 years across the Colombian countryside on the backs of his two donkeys in his efforts to spread literacy to children across the nation.

The “librarian” was made famous world-wide after a documentary in which he was featured took second place at the 2008 Chicago Latin Film Festival. In 2010 Soriano was featured on the CNN network’s Larry King Live talk show as the “Person of the Day.”
