Beauty queen and husband escape drunk driving charges

Police caught Vanessa Mendoza, the former Miss Colombia, and her husband driving while intoxicated late Saturday night, gossip news site Sweet revealed.

Like many soccer-obsessed Colombians, Vanessa and her husband Andres celebrated Colombia’s triumph over South Korea Friday. After getting their fill of Bogota’s booze-and-rumba scene, the couple decided to drive home.

Which of the two lovebirds was the driver remains unknown.

When the Colombian police pulled the couple over on the highway, Vanessa played the “don’t you know who I am?” card, and escaped with a mere warning.

The officers apparently followed the 2001 Miss Colombia beauty contest in which the fashion model became the first Afro-Colombian queen.
