Avianca emergency landing injures 5

Five people were injured when an Avianca Fokker 100 plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Bogota’s El Dorado airport on Tuesday night, reports W Radio.

The flight, which was flying the Bogota to Guayaquil (Ecuador) route, was forced to return to El Dorado less than an hour after take-off due electrical problems, according to Colonel Douglas Tascon, subdirector of civil aviation.

“The captain told us there was technical damage to the plane… There was an unbearable noise. When we landed some people jumped out of the escape exit,” said Silvia Irene Rodas, one of the passengers aboard the flight.

According to Santa Fe Radio, the landing itself was without incident and passengers were injured during the panic which ensued when the plane evacuated.
