Veteran striker Sergio Galvan Rey opened the scoring in the 21st minute, collecting a pass from Carlos Villagra and connecting on a shot from outside the area.Paraguayan Villagra, playing against his compatriots, widened the Medellin club’s lead in the 43rd minute, leaping over defenders for a header that beat keeper Enrique Garcia.Second-half substitute Carmelo Valencia made it 3-0 with 9 minutes left.The win moved the 1989 Libertadores champions to four points from two games, above Brazil’s Sao Paulo on goal difference. Luqueno is a point back in third, with Chile’s Audax Italiano pointless.Group play will resume on March 18 when Atletico travels to Audax, while Luqueno hosts Sao Paulo on March 20.
