Frenchman murdered north of Medellin

A Frenchman was stabbed to death in Bello, north of Medellin, local
newspaper Q’hubo reported Tuesday. It is the second time this year a
French citizen is murdered in the municipality bordering Colombia’s
second largest city.

According to the newspaper, Stephane Tison, a Frenchman from the north western region of Normandy was murdered on July 28 already, but wasn’t identified until Monday last week.

Tison had arrived in Medellin a week before his death to get divorced from his wife he had married in 2006. The relationship had gone awry after his wife refused to move to France with the victim.

According to witnesses, the Frenchman planned to stay in a hotel in the Belen neighborhood until August 7, but paid his bills and asked the hotel to store his luggage on the morning of his death. Tison left the hotel saying he had something important to do and went missing after that.

One day later the police found a body stabbed to death in Bello. The body was identified as that of Stephane Tison.

So far, the police have no suspects and say Tison was stabbed during a fight.

In May, the police found the dismembered body of a Frenchman in an abandoned taxi in Bello. A taxi driver is standing trial for the murder at the moment. The reasons for the crime are not known.
