6 Soldiers sentenced to 28 years for ‘false positive’

Six soldiers Wednesday were sentenced to 28 years in prison after being found guilty of ‘false positives’.

Two officers and four soldiers were found guilty of the murder of two young men who were presented as guerrillas killed in combat, El Tiempo reported.

“The investigation established that on 5 March 2006 Daladier Herrera Osorio and Omar Alfredo Osorio Almanza were brought from Caucasia (Antioquia department) to Monteria (Cordoba department) with the promise of getting work on a farm. But they were killed instead”, the Prosecution told the judge.

The court sentenced Major Oscar Alberto Acuña Arroyo, Captain Alvaro Camargo Camargo, Federman Cura Jaramillo, Angel Manuel Jimenez Oviedo, Luis Alfredo Calume Salgado and Fabio Arturo Medina Torreglosa.
