Colombia’s armed forces reported four dead guerrillas Tuesday following a confrontation in the southwestern state of Cauca.

According to the official report, the incident took place after the guerrillas ambushed a police station in the municipality of Toribio while troops were out on patrol.

Two police were reported wounded following an explosion at the station.

According to El Espectador, authorities did not dismiss the possibility that the attacks were planned by the country’s largest rebel group the FARC and carried out by the country’s second largest rebel group ELN.

The FARC recently declared a 30-day unilateral cease fire as peace talks with the government continue in Havana, Cuba. The government announced they would continue combat operations against the FARC.
