2 young girls shot dead in Bogota

Two sisters aged 7 and 14 years old were shot and killed in Bogota Tuesday evening, with police offering a reward of $11,000 for information leading to the capture of the perpetrator.

The incident occurred at around 7PM Tuesday night in Kennedy, southern Bogota, when the two girls left their house in order to make a phone call. They apparently walked only a few meters before an unknown gunman approached them and shot them several times before fleeing the scene.

The sisters, identified only as Sandra and Erika, were taken to hospital but the older girl arrived without vital signs, while the 7-year-old died as she was receiving medical care.

The police have started investigations in the area of Bellavista, in Kennedy, although as of yet there are no motives identified.
