Ambassador to UK resigns to aspire Presidency

Colombia’s ambassador to the UK, Noemi Sanin, announced her
resignation Saturday. The diplomat hopes to become the Conservative
Party’s candidate for the 2010 Presidency.

According to a press release by the ambassador, Sanin met with President Alvaro Uribe to hand in her resignation.

“I reiterated to the president my indeclinable loyalty and admiration for his government. I thanked him for the opportunity he gave me to represent Colombia and his government in Spain and the United Kingdom,” the ambassador wrote.

Sanin was expected to resign for a while already. She now joins other Conservative Party members in the race for the party’s candidacy.
