All work and no play for Miss Bogota

Think life as Miss Bogota is a non-stop whirlwind of parties, jet-setting, and rubbing shoulders with society’s high flyers? Think again…

According to Colombian gossip rag Sweet, Miss Bogota was recently invited to Equador as a guest of honor at a local event. However whip cracking beauty queen bosses put a crimp on her plans, insisting she stayed put to to concentrate on the crown, paving the way for runner-up Barbara Turbay to go in her place.

Miss Bogota Melissa Cano had reportedly been invited to a festival outside of Quito, Ecuador and was absolutely exhilarated by the prospect but when she asked permission from the national beauty contest officials they, like, totally did not let her go.

Their reasoning was that the Cano had to focus exclusively on her upcoming competition in November; so no fun and games in Ecuador for the Colombian capital’s beauty queen.

To rub salt in the wound, Ecuadorian organizers called up Miss Bogota’s runner-up Barbara Turbay and invited her to go in Cano’s place. Barbara eagerly accepted the opportunity, and will be headed to the neighboring country with one of her trainers, Juan Carlos Rodriguez, to party hardy.
