The AH1N1 virus spread rapidly among Colombians this week. According
to health officials, six more people died and another 134 were
confirmed to be infected by the new flu.
All fatalities occurred in the capital Bogota. One of the fatalities had been reported in media earlier this week, because she was a student at the country’s largest public university.
The majority of the newly confirmed AH1N1 cases are also in Bogota. 102 of the 134 confirmed cases are patients in the capital.
Colombia’s deputy Health Minister announced the government will provide better training for medical personnel and enforce the diagnostics facilities in hospitals to halt the sharply increasing number of patients.
So far, 507 people in Colombia were confirmed to have the virus. 29 of the patients died.
